December 9: Mr. Larry Morris to preach on Luke 3: 1 - 6, title is Prepare! Mr. Morris is finishing seminary and works for our National Benevolence Association, a group which gives grants to churches doing a new thing. He is a good connection for us to have and has a spirit that I find delightful!
December 16th: I will return to the pulpit, the children will share a portion of the Christmas story, and the choir will sing Rose of Bethlehem--the rose is Jesus, so beautiful whose life will include thorns. Here is part of the lyrics:
There's a fragrance much like hope
that it sends upon the wind,
reaching out to ev'ry soul
from a lowly manger's crib.
December 23rd: Oh, what a joyous day this will be! Choir will sing Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful love! I guarantee you, those words will not leave your head after we sing. Children will continue to tell the story. Invite friends--often, at Christmas, people long to be part of God's story.
December 24th: The very next day, Monday, is Christmas Eve Potluck. I will open the kitchen doors by 1 p.m. for the set up of tables and the heating of dishes. Crock pot or Instant Pot dishes are especially welcome as they don't require our limited oven space. Our potluck begins at 3 p.m.
Let's keep it simple this year, without production. Come and get to know someone new. Reveal a little bit more of yourself and let them do so too. Remember, church is a place where we practice becoming that which God seeks us to be.
At 5:00, we gather together in the sanctuary. Our musicians and worship leaders have prepared an amazing worship for you to welcome in the birth of the Christ child. It will be a Glorious Night!
December 30th: Holy Humor Sunday! Do you have a funny story to tell that involves church or the Spirit of God? Please, email me that you would like to be part of Holy Humor Sunday. Right now, I have the amazing Jeannie Dunsworth signed up. But, I am looking for a few other good humorous people. Let's make it fun, because laughter is healing. And, God wants you to be well.
January 6: Epiphany...the 3 Kings come to find Jesus.
